Imo State Governor, Chief Rochas
Okorocha, has debunked the rumour making the rounds in parts of the state that
All Progressives Congress, APC, is behind the sordid activities of the Islamic
fundamentalists, Boko Haram.
Chief Okorocha, who disclosed this
while speaking at a breakfast meeting he organized for political appointees and
APC stakeholders at Government House, Owerri, also opined that the strength of
Boko Haram is in the disunity of the country.
“Boko Haram has been in existence
before the formation of APC. I urge party loyalists not to allow such rumour to
distract them from the love and support they have for the party”, Okorocha
pleaded.
He condemned what he called “the
internal crisis existing in APC in some local government areas of the state”
and urged the party faithful to settle their differences and come together to
move the party forward.
“Let also remind you all of the
need for political appointees to have change of attitude and cultivate the
habit of sacrifice, as well as carry the people at the grassroots along in
scheme of things”, Okorocha said.
On what made APC to lose in Ekiti
State, the Governor said it was caused by the elites and the grassroots, adding
that the leaders of APC in the area were not on ground.
He expressed optimism that APC will
win all the elective positions, as well produce the next president come 2015,
stressing that “APC has concluded arrangements to embark on programmes and
projects that will make the party more vibrant in the state”.
Okorocha maintained that “the
success or failure of APC lies in the hands of the party members” and urged
them to have a change of attitude to enable the party achieve its objective in
the 2015 general election.
Responding, the State Chairman of
APC, Dr. Hilary Ekeh, thanked the Governor for such a meeting and assured him
that members of APC will not disappoint him come 2015.
